Powerful Pollinators!

0 minutes, 35 seconds Read

It’s Pollinator Week here in Pennsylvania! Everything is abuzz here on the farm. The milkweeds are stealing the show lately. Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) especially, and did I mention how AH-MAZING the blooms smell?!?! We also spotted the first monarch caterpillar of the season!💃🏻 Mlkweeds are Monarch’s larval host plant. Without milkweed, there would be no Monarchs. There are 11 species of milkweed native to Pennsylvania. A couple favorites for the home landscape are Rose Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) and the show-stopping Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa). With the Monarch population drastically declining, consider adding some milkweed to your pollinator friendly landscape this season. We have a few species available here at the farm. We hope to see you soon!
