Perennials are plants that live for more than two years, with new growth from a surviving part of the plant from the previous growing season. Many perennials grow and bloom in spring and summer, then die back in fall and winter, and regrow from their roots the following year. However, some perennials have adapted to survive the fall and winter without dying back.
