Description

Helen’s Flower (Helenium autumnale) is a lively, pollinator-friendly native perennial that bursts into bloom when much of the garden begins to fade. Its bright, daisy-like golden-yellow flowers stand atop sturdy stems from late summer into early fall, offering an essential nectar source for migrating butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects.

Naturally found along streambanks, wetlands, and moist meadows, Helenium autumnale thrives in full sun and prefers moist to average soils, although it adapts surprisingly well to a variety of garden conditions once established. Growing between 3 to 5 feet tall, it creates a bold vertical accent perfect for the back of perennial borders, rain gardens, and restoration projects.

Unlike some garden cultivars bred for larger blooms or showier colors, straight species Helen’s Flower emphasizes ecological function, supporting a wide range of native bees and providing late-season habitat resources. Its cheerful, abundant flowers also make lovely, long-lasting additions to cut flower arrangements.

At High-Five Farms, we grow our Helen’s Flower from wild-collected, ethically sourced seed to ensure maximum genetic diversity and resilience. Add this late-season star to your landscape for a vibrant splash of color and a welcome invitation to pollinators when they need it most!
